University of South Alabama officials said a student was found deceased in his dorm room this morning.
Bob Lowry, Interim Director of Public Relations at the University of South Alabama, said Christopher Elan Thomas of Dothan was found by campus police in his Gamma 5 residence hall on the USA campus shortly before 7 a.m..
“Upon arriving, University police began life-saving procedures,” said Lowry in a press release. “Mobile Fire-Rescue also responded and attempted to resuscitate Thomas, but was not successful.”
Lowry said the cause of death will be determined by the Mobile County Coroner’s office. Lowry also said foul play is not suspected.
“Counseling for the University is available through USA Counseling Services,” said Lowry. “For immediate counseling needs, call USA Police at 460-6312 and they will contact on-call counseling.
Fox10 News has been told Thomas was a well-liked member of the student body. Fox10 News will continue to update this story when more information becomes available.
