Benefit cosmetics have taken to their website and urged customers to return one of their key products if it’s rattling around in the bottom of their makeup bags.
While the cosmetic giants professed their standards are usually very high, they revealed one of their product has been flagged as a risk.
And the product in question is eyebrow gel Gimme Brow, which tints and set eyebrows into place.
The statement read: “Benefit Cosmetics is committed to the highest levels of quality and doing what’s right for our customers.”
It continued: “Out of an abundance of caution, we are initiating a voluntary recall of our Gimme Brow product after discovering that recent batches of the product did not meet our stringent quality standards.”
But trying to calm customers’ concerns, they added: “If applied in its normal usage on the brows, the Gimme Brow product doesn’t involve any risk.”
And added: “However, if it comes into contact with the eyes, it could lead to eye irritation…. We recommend that you stop using the product.”

Instructions under the product details: “Using short pressing motions, stroke the precision tip along brows to define shape. Comb through with the custom, tiny tapered brush to blend & build.”
The £20 product comes in three shades, light, medium and deep, and is a favourite among customers.
So much so, fans have been taking to Twitter to inquire why it’s been out of stock in store and online.
One beauty lover wrote: “Why can’t I find the Benefit Brownanza anywhere? It was meant to be out last week but now saying it’s not out until next year.”

Another asked “Is gimme brow discontinued?? We just got it in our sephora play boxes and I loved it!, yet both US and UK Twitter accounts told customers this was down to the recall.
Over on Benefit’s website, they advise people who’ve purchased the product to return it to the original place of purchase for a full refund. They advised customers to email GimmeBrowInfo@benefitcosmetics.com or call 0800 086 8204 if they have any further questions.
